Yu Yu Hakusho is my 5th favorite anime. It's a little old actually. It ended 1 or 2 years ago. Yu Yu Hakusho is about a boy named Yusuke Urameshi. He is a 14 year old delinquent who skips school, smokes, and gets into a lot of fights. He's the strongest kid in the neighborhood. most people his age are scared of him, but Keiko Yukimura and Kazuma Kuwabara aren't. Keiko is Yusuke's childhood friend who always tries to set him straight when he's acting out. she's also the only one brave enough to smack him. Kuwabara always picked fights w/ Yusuke but always lost. One day when yusuke was walking home from attempting to go to school for a whole day, he saved a little boy from getting hit by a car and lost his own life instead. Botan, Guide to the spirit world showed up and told him that the spirit world was not expecting him to die and they did not yet have a place for him. Botan took him to lord Koenma son of king enma. He told Yusuke that if he wanted to come back to life he would have to take an ordeal. Yusuke agreed and soon came back to life. Koenma decided to appoint Yusuke as Spirit detective (protector of earth). Yusuke discovered his new powers and used them ro fight demons who threatened the human race. Yusuke also discovered that Kuwabara had spirit powers as well. on one of yusuke's first spirit detective missions he meets two demons named Kurama (Shuichi Minamino) and Hiei. Together as a group they participate in the dark tournament and in many other spirit detective missions. If you wanted to i guess you could call all 4 of them spirit detectives. Hiei would never accept it though.
